About the commitee
The famous United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is one of the most important commitees from United Nations Organization (UNO), since it is the only mandatory body and is responsible for global security and the maintenance of peace between nations. In SiAn 2025, The topic which is going to be discussed is the Middle East conflicts: Israel, Lebanon and escalating tensions. This commitee is only in English and you can also call a friend to join your delegation in order to help you.
On October 8, 2023, the State of Israel formally declared war on Hamas, marking a historic escalation in a conflict that has shaped the Middle East for decades. This decision followed a series of huge proportion attacks that hadn't been seen in decades, signaling a shift in the region’s political and military dynamics. The declaration not only intensified the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza but also raised fears of broader regional instability, with the international community divided on how to respond. The debate will focus on in-depth understanding of the conflict's historical roots, its impact on the population, and its influence on shaping related conflicts, particularly the Iranian and Lebanese-Israeli tensions.
Letter from the Comittee Directors
Dear delegates,
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to SiAn 2025! The United Nations Security Council stands as one of the most important UN bodies, being responsible for global security, peacekeeping and protecting human rights through its mechanisms, involving the authority to adopt mandatory resolutions for all of the State members, as well as the military power to enforce them. It is an honor to have such dedicated delegates eager to engage in these discussions with us, recognizing the urgent need for diplomacy and intervention in the world we live in.
The topic to be addressed in the UNSC 2025 discussions is the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East regarding Israel, Lebanon and groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah. This matter is crucial as it reflects one of the longest and most complex security challenges in international relations today. The conflict is rooted in a deep historical background and has led to a severe humanitarian crisis, with mass casualties and displacement, while also posing significant threats to regional and global stability with the involvement of international actors and global powers.
We believe discussing this topic contemplating all cultural, geographical, religious, and historical aspects can help us analyze the situation in its entire complexion. We expect the debates to encourage the delegates to seek resolutions that will align with the core essence of the United Nations Security Council - protection of Human Rights, international law, and security - making the best efforts to achieve regional peace.
The chair will always be inclined to help the delegates and coordinate the debate so it advances properly. It’s important to remember that participating in SiAn means having the opportunity to break out of your comfort zone, get to know a part of the diplomatic environment, and develop a series of skills, such as public-speaking, group work, and problem solving.
We hope that your delegates fully enjoy the simulation and absorb what this experience has to offer, later using this new knowledge to grow as better people and citizens. Your committee’s directors are always available to answer any questions and give any assistance needed. Any questions or motions? Good SiAn 2025!
